Wingit Case Study #3 - Charity

Charities do wonderful work across the UK and, like churches, charities often have ambition beyond their existing staff levels, leaving a gap in the skills needed to achieve their goals. Sometimes the choice is ‘not do it all’, ‘do it poorly’…or ‘find someone who can do it for you’!

The Client - Hope4 and Rugby Foodbank

Hope4 and Rugby Foodbank are two connected charities run by the same leadership team. Hope4 helps the homeless and badly housed in Rugby offering many essential services to their clients while Rugby Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, provides emergency food for those who find themselves in food poverty.

The Need

Hope4 and Rugby Foodbank employ some staff to help with management and administration but don’t have the resources to dedicate someone to help with their marketing/creative needs. Some of their requirements, such as communicating through social media channels, are consistent across the year, whereas other requirements are only at specific times of the year such as Christmas and Harvest times.

How Wingit Creative has helped

Wingit Creative have partnered with Hope4 and Rugby Foodbank for many years and have adapted and changed their services as the charity’s needs have changed. Initially helping in some administrative roles, Wingit is now largely focussed on managing their social media channels and at specific times through the year, promoting their fundraising initiatives or food collection drives by creating video content and design work for printed media.

Videos

Christmas and Harvest times are a particular focus time for Rugby Foodbank, as they look to replenish their food stocks, ready to distribute to clients and we’ve targeted these times to create promotional videos to increase the publics awareness of the charities needs.

Also, realising the power of telling a story, we created ‘Sophie’s Story’ for Hope4 to tell the journey of how a client with housing needs was helped.

‘The 12 Days of Foodbank Christmas’ was a particularly fun project where we re-wrote the lyrics to the traditional Christmas song, recorded a team of foodbank volunteers performing the track, mixed the audio and filmed a music video to promote the giving campaign.

All these videos were scripted by working with the Hope4 and Rugby Foodbank team and then filmed, produced and edited by Wingit Creative.

Website

We recently redesigned the Hope4 website, streamlining their content and improving the user experience from their older Wordpress site which was becoming slow and outdated in design. We also help manage the Rugby Foodbank website (which is provided by the Trussell Trust) doing ad-hoc edits and changes when requested.

Graphics & Photos

Hope4 and Rugby Foodbank have had a regular need for both online and printed media to be designed. Including posters, flyers, banners, leaflets and photography, here are some of the things we have made.

Social Media

Wingit Creative manages Hope4’s and Rugby Foodbank social media channels which include Facebook, X and Instagram. We post daily to all the channels including a mixture of messaging directed by the charity’s team, graphics created by Wingit and news stories related to homelessness and food poverty. Fundraising and food collection drives all feature heavily throughout the year and social media forms a key part of how the client communicates to the public.
